Ziel der AfD ist klar: Über Nähe zur republikanischen Rechten will man internationale Rückendeckung gewinnen und die eigene Position im innenpolitischen Diskurs stärken. Laut Politico-Journalistin Pauline von Petzold soll der US-Kurs sogar innerparteiliche Spannungen überdecken. Kritik an den USA sei in der AfD kaum noch hörbar – seit Trump als ideologischer Verbündeter gilt. Russland bleibt ein Thema, doch die außenpolitische Priorität heißt derzeit: Washington.
