İşini kaybetmekten korkmak, dinlenirken suçluluk duymak, değerini ne kadar ürettiğinle ölçmek normal.
Ama bir şeyin milyonlarca insan tarafından yapılması, onu sağlıklı hâle getirir mi?
Gabor Maté ve oğlu Daniel Maté’nin birlikte yazdığı The Myth of Normal, Türkçedeki adıyla Normal Efsanesi, işte bu sorunun peşine düşüyor.
Maté’ye göre bugün kaygı, tükenmişlik, bağımlılık ve bazı bedensel rahatsızlıkları yalnızca bireyin içinde ortaya çıkan problemler gibi ele alıyoruz. İnsan zorlandığında ona dönüp şunu soruyoruz:
“Senin neyin var?”
Daha iyi uyumasını, zamanını yönetmesini, stresle başa çıkmasını ve mümkün olduğunca hızlı biçimde yeniden işlevsel hâle gelmesini istiyoruz.
Fakat onu aynı hayata geri gönderiyoruz.
Aynı hızın, aynı yalnızlığın, aynı bastırılmış ihtiyaçların içine…
Maté çok daha geniş bir soru soruyor:
“Ya problem yalnızca insanda değilse? Ya insan, sağlıksız koşullara son derece anlaşılır bir tepki veriyorsa?”
