Indian Army Eyes 300 K-9 Vajra Artillery Systems in Mega Deal | Vantage on Firstpost | N18G | 4K
The Indian Army is reportedly going to order more than 300 K-9 Vajra self-propelled howitzers worth ₹23,500 Crore ($2.8 Billion).This comes after the K-9 Vajra successfully conducted field trials in the icy and mountainous regions of Ladakh. The Indian Army already operates 100 K-9 Vajra tanks that were procured in 2017. An additional order for 100 systems was placed in 2023. Now, another major is on the cards for Larsen & Toubro, that license produces the K-9 Vajra in India. Originally made by South Korea, Larsen & Toubro won the contract to make the artillery system in India in 2017. Since then, the Indian private firm has made significant upgrades and modifications, and now the howitzer has more than 50% Indian content.
