В мае российские войска начали новое наступление в Харьковской области, задействовав бронетехнику с противодроновыми «мангалами», танки и самоходную артиллерию. Авиация РФ впервые применила сверхмощные управляемые авиабомбы ФАБ-3000, пытаясь прорвать украинскую оборону. Эпицентром боев стала позиция «Берлин» — густой лес к северу от Липцев, где разгорелся один из самых жестоких боев этой кампании.К штурму присоединились даже иностранные добровольцы, в частности колумбийцы, однако украинские силы быстро дали отпор. Россияне открыли огонь из РСЗО «Торнадо», превращая лес в ад, но в ответ ВСУ подняли в воздух ударные вертолеты Ми-24 и применили реактивную артиллерию. FPV-дроны добивали остатки штурмовых групп, не оставляя шансов врагу закрепиться.
После ожесточенного боя российские войска начали отступать — часть попала в плен, остальные остались в лесу навсегда. Позиция «Берлин», которая всю зиму оставалась линией фронта, была частично освобождена. К маю украинские силы выполнили поставленную задачу, закрепившись на стратегически важном участке.
