A Volkswagen diz que vai investir R$ 3 bilhões em sua fábrica de São José dos Pinhais ao lado de Curitiba. O objetivo desse investimento é produzir uma nova picape.
Essa caminhonete, ao contrário da Savero lançada no ano passado e da Amarok, que vai ser apresentada nas próximas semanas, será nova de fato. Esse modelo não é apenas um facelift dos modelos anteriores, até porque não existia o modelo anterior com as suas dimensões.
A picape terá o tamanho intermediário entre Savero e Amarok para concorrer com a Chevrolet Montana ou Renault Oroch. Ela poderá ser derivada de uma picape conceito, apresentada em 2018 no estande da Volkswagen no Salão do Automóvel de São Paulo. O nome na época era Tarok e possui a mesma plataforma MQB do T-Cross.
