CDU und CSU verweigerten in letzter Minute ihre Zustimmung zur SPD-Kandidatin Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf. Unionsfraktionschef Jens Spahn räumt Fehler ein, die „Dimension der Bedenken“ sei unterschätzt worden. Gespräche laufen zwar weiter, doch vorerst ruht das Verfahren: Eine Sondersitzung lehnt die Union ab, regulär tagt der Bundestag erst im September.
