PKK fighters lay down weapons in Iraq
Friday marked a turning point in the long-standing conflict between Turkiye and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). Members of the PKK laid down their weapons at a symbolic ceremony in the semi-autonomous Kurdish region of northern Iraq. The event in Sulaimaniyah was attended by Turkish and Iraqi intelligence officials, along with representatives from the Kurdistan Regional Government.Al Jazeera’s Mahmoud Abdelwahed reports on this significant development.
