GOWA, KOMPAS.TV - 52 pendaki dievakuasi karena mengalami hipotermia saat memperingati Hari Kemerdekaan ke-80 RI di Gunung Bawakaraeng, Kabupaten Gowa, Sulawesi Selatan, pada Minggu (17/8/2025) kemarin.
Satu orang di antaranya meninggal dunia dan jasadnya dievakuasi dan dipulangkan ke kampung halamannya.
Proses evakuasi jasad korban Irfan oleh tim SAR gabungan berlangsung secara dramatis karena kondisi jalan yang licin pasca hujan.
Korban diduga mengalami hipotermia saat merayakan HUT Kemerdekaan ke-80 RI di Puncak Gunung Bawakaraeng, Kabupaten Gowa.
Cuaca buruk serta suhu ekstrem di bawah 5 derajat Celcius jadi salah satu penyebab pendaki mengalami hipotermia.
Tim SAR mencatat telah berhasil mengevakuasi 51 orang lainnya, sementara masih ada 40.000 calon pendaki yang akan memulai perjalanan.
Tim SAR pun mengimbau para calon pendaki untuk berhati-hati dan membatalkan rencana pendakian saat ini.
Hal itu dikarenakan cuaca di kawasan Gunung Bawakaraeng sedang mengalami cuaca ekstrem, hingga menembus suhu di bawah 5 derajat Celcius.
