No entanto, sua primeira convocação para a Seleção Feminina Principal, que foi anunciada no dia 12 de fevereiro de 2026, foi um momento emocionante. A meio-campista afirmou que está realizando um sonho e revelou como recebeu a notícia.“Quando saiu a convocação eu estava dormindo, porque ainda era de manhã lá (nos Estados Unidos). Só vi depois que acordei", disse.
“Eu só acreditei que tinha sido convocada quando cheguei aqui. Defender a Seleção é um sonho que todos têm, mas também traz muita responsabilidade", completou.
Natural de Itapiranga, no interior de Santa Catarina, Maiara iniciou sua trajetória jogando futsal. Com passagens pelo Internacional e Sporting (POR), hoje a atleta defende o Angel City (EUA).
