La truffa della ballerina è un raggiro su WhatsApp che ruba account e dati personali fingendosi un sondaggio innocuo su una bambina che balla. Si diffonde da un tuo contatto già hackerato, con una foto di una ragazzina in tutù e un messaggio tipo “Vota mia nipote nel concorso di danza, clicca qui!”.
Il link porta a una pagina falsa che sembra un sito di votazioni. Ti chiede il tuo numero di telefono e un codice a sei cifre che arriva via SMS, spacciandolo per conferma del voto. In realtà, quel codice collega il tuo WhatsApp a un dispositivo degli hacker, dando loro accesso totale alle tue chat, foto, video e messaggi. Poi usano il tuo account per mandare lo stesso messaggio a tutti i tuoi contatti, facendo crescere la truffa velocemente. Dopo un paio di giorni, iniziano a chiedere soldi ai tuoi amici e parenti fingendo emergenze.
Non è un virus, ma sfrutta il modo in cui WhatsApp collega i dispositivi. Gli hacker leggono e scrivono nei tuoi messaggi in tempo reale, senza che tu te ne accorga subito. Colpiscono soprattutto chi ha più di 40 anni, perché gioca sull’empatia per aiutare una bambina e sull’urgenza di votare.
Se ne contano almeno 62mila pienamente riuscite, con altrettanti dati rubati a persone inconsapevoli del suo funzionamento: il problema è che il dato deriva dalle denunce fatte; quello sui reali raggiri di questo tipo è totalmente sommerso.
