Die Partei verlor nicht nur einen Ministerpräsidenten, sondern auch weiter an Vertrauen bei den Wählern. Parteichefs Lars Klingbeil und Bärbel Bas lehnen derweil eine Personaldebatte ab und setzen stattdessen auf eine inhaltliche Neuausrichtung. Selbstkritisch räumen sie ein, dass viele Bürger nicht mehr wüssten, wofür die SPD steht. Besonders das Image als Partei der Transferleistungsempfänger stellt ein Problem dar. Nun soll ein Krisengipfel am Freitag die strategische Zukunft klären.
