(LaPresse) Esponente della Dc negli anni della prima repubblica e ministro in più governi. Paolo Cirino Pomicino, nato a Napoli nel 1939, era stato eletto per la prima volta alla Camera dei deputati nel 1976, dopo essere stato negli anni settanta consigliere e assessore del comune di Napoli. L'apice della sua carriera politica arriva negli anni '80 con le cariche di ministro della funzione pubblica nel governo De Mita e del bilancio con il governo Andreotti. A Napoli aveva conquistato il ruolo di leader della Dc. È stato coinvolto nelle inchieste di Mani pulite fin dal 1993 ma è sempre stato assolto. Ha patteggiato invece una pena a un anno e 8 mesi nel processo per la maxi tangente Enimont. Era tornato alla politica con l'Udeur di Clemente Mastella e eletto a Strasburgo per il Partito Popolare. Nel 2006 viene eletto alla Camera dei deputati nella liste della Nuova Dc. Ma l'anno successivo è costretto ad abbandonare la politica attiva per problemi di salute.
