Petugas pemadam kebakaran dan penyelamatan (Damkarmat) Banyuwangi turut menangkap sapi tersebut.
Hal itu disampaikan Kepala Damkarmat Banyuwangi, Yoppy Bayu Irwan.
Ia mengatakan Damkarmat mendapat laporan dari warga bahwa sapi seberat 500 kilogram terlepas dari ikatannya.
Terlebih, sapi itu disebut agresif hingga kabur ke jalan raya.
Warga dan Damkarmat mengejar sapi itu dari Jalan Raya Kepiting hingga Jalan Ikan Lele.
Tak tanggung-tanggung, kejar-kejaran antara sapi dan Damkarmat membutuhkan waktu sekira dua jam.
Hingga pada akhirnya petugas berhasil menumbangkan dan menangani sapi tersebut.
Setelah berhasil ditumbangkan, panitia memutuskan untuk menyembelih di tengah jalan mengingat sapi tersebut agresif.
Yoppy mengatakan sapi itu didoakan dan disembelih di tengah jalan.
Kemudian, sapi itu diangkat menggunakan kayu untuk dinaikkan ke mobil terbuka dan dikembalikan lagi ke pihak pondok pesantren.
