India Plans $10.5 Billion Deal For 60 New IAF Transport Aircraft | Vantage on Firstpost | 4K
India is planning to spend nearly $10.5 billion on 60 new multirole transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force, as it seeks to replace an ageing An-32 fleet and strengthen strategic airlift capabilities. The aircraft will carry troops, equipment and supplies, with the IAF seeking platforms capable of carrying 18 to 30 tonnes and operating from high-altitude and short, unprepared runways. Contenders include the C-130J Super Hercules, C-390 Millennium and Airbus A400M. Around 20% of the aircraft are expected to be delivered in fly-away condition, while the rest will be manufactured in India with more than 60% indigenous content.
