Seorang ibu rumah tangga di Kabupaten Luwu, Sulawesi Selatan, meninggal dunia setelah ditelan ular piton sepanjang 8 meter, Selasa (02/07).

Kejadian ini adalah yang kedua di Sulawesi Selatan dalam sebulan terakhir.

Pada awal Juni lalu, seorang perempuan meninggal dunia setelah ditelan ular piton sepanjang lima meter saat dalam perjalanan pulang dari kebun ke perkampungan di Kabupaten Sidrap.

Jasad perempuan itu ditemukan setelah perut ular piton yang menelannya dibelah.

Pascaperistiwa ini kepolisian meminta warga agar selalu membawa pisau atau benda tajam untuk mengantisipasi serangan ular piton.

Aktivis lingkungan menilai ada korelasi kuat antara kerusakan lingkungan dengan konflik antara hewan liar dan manusia.

Adapun pecinta reptil menilai kejadian ini boleh jadi merupakan pertanda bahwa habitat mangsa ular berkurang akibat deforestasi dan urbanisasi.
