Christ:innen in aller Welt haben an Karfreitag an das Leiden und Sterben Jesu Christi am Kreuz erinnert. Bei Gottesdiensten und Prozessionen verurteilten sie Kriege und Unrecht und riefen zum Frieden auf.In Rom wollte Papst Leo XIV. am Abend den traditionellen Kreuzweg am Kolosseum begehen und dabei selbst das hölzerne Kreuz über die 14 Stationen tragen. Der am 8. Mai 2025 gewählte Leo leitet in diesem Jahr erstmals die Feierlichkeiten an den Kar- und Ostertagen.
