South Africa's $130 Million Bank Fraud Mastermind Sentenced to 495 Years in Jail | Firstpost AfricaJustice has been served! Tshifhiwa Matodzi, the former chairperson of VBS Mutual Bank, has been handed a whopping 15-year jail term after pleading guilty to 33 counts, including corruption, theft, fraud, money laundering, and racketeering. Although the combined sentence amounted to 495 years, court ordered the sentences to run concurrently, resulting in an effective 15 years’ imprisonment. Matodzi was arrested alongside several other VBS employees in June 2020, but to date, only he and the chief financial officer have been sentenced.
