Some scientists were absolute idiots, or brilliant researchers whose experiments became catastrophically reckless. From fatal self-experiments and radioactive disasters to human-animal hybrid attempts, unethical psychology studies, and scientists deliberately exposing themselves to deadly diseases, these stories prove intelligence does not always come with common sense.This countdown examines 25 of history’s strangest scientific experiments, including Francis Bacon freezing a chicken in the snow, Il’ya Ivanov attempting to create human-ape hybrids, Marie Curie’s fatal radiation exposure, and Alexander Bogdanov’s disastrous blood transfusions.
