In this video, I discuss my hypothesis that Gloria Zhao's rapid ascent to Bitcoin Core maintainer was driven by her relationship with John Newbery, co-founder of Brink, which itself provided dev funding for Gloria.
Gloria's previous interest in Ethereum, as well as her limited time spent in Bitcoin before joining Bitcoin Core-- both help to explain her disregard for bloating the Bitcoin blockchain with arbitrary data like inscriptions and large op returns.
Gloria apparently never spent enough time absorbing Bitcoin culture before becoming a Core maintainer, and the result for both Bitcoin as well as Bitcoin Core's credibility has been disastrous.
