Unheimliche Horrorstory: Auf der Heimfahrt in den Spring Break war das allererste, was ich von meiner Heimatstadt sah, eine gewaltige Kirche mit zahlreichen Türmen, die vorher nicht dort gestanden hatte. Ich musste zweimal hinschauen und fuhr auf dem Weg hinein daran vorbei; jeder Turm bestand aus sechs einzelnen Bändern aus karmesinrotem Metall, die sich in einer regungslosen Pirouette nach oben wanden und in einer bösartigen Spitze endeten, die die Luft so scharf durchschnitt, dass man kleine Schleier aus kondensierter Feuchtigkeit von ihren Spitzen davonrasen sehen konnte – im feuchten Nachmittag North Carolinas. Die sechs Türme an der Vorderseite der ansonsten knochenweißen Kirche waren an den Seiten höher und in der Mitte niedriger, sodass sie in meinem Blick den Eindruck der unteren Zahnreihe eines Satzes grauenhafter dämonischer Zähne erweckten._______________________________________
