HANS-ULRICH JÖRGES: Merz wird 70 Jahre alt - Jörges wünscht ihm Gesundheit und "Abtritt" für AndereBundeskanzler Friedrich Merz feiert heute seinen 70. Geburtstag – als erster Regierungschef in der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik, der diesen Meilenstein im Amt begeht. Während er den Tag laut eigenen Angaben als „ganz normalen Arbeitstag“ betrachtet, nutzt Kolumnist Ulrich Jörges den Anlass für scharfe Kritik. Merz habe dem Land „keine Impulse mehr“ gegeben, wirke erschöpft und führe Deutschland in eine politische Krise, so Jörges. Er forderte die CDU auf, Merz abzulösen, um einen drohenden Machtzuwachs der AfD zu verhindern. Als möglichen Nachfolger nannte er den nordrhein-westfälischen Ministerpräsidenten Hendrik Wüst, der „frischen Wind“ in die deutsche Politik bringen könne.
