Nelle ultime settimane il Lago di Loppio è tornato al centro dell’attenzione: nella riserva naturale - che si trova nel comune trentino di Mori - sono riapparsi migliaia di pesci rossi, in realtà carassi dorati, specie alloctona invasiva introdotta illegalmente da privati. La loro concentrazione in pozze d’acqua sempre più ridotte segnala un problema crescente. Secondo gli esperti, questi pesci si riproducono molto rapidamente, competono con le specie native per spazio e risorse e si nutrono anche di uova e larve di anfibi e pesci locali, alterando l’equilibrio di un’area protetta fondamentale per la raganella italiana, l'ululone dal ventre giallo e il tritone punteggiato. Oltre alla competizione ecologica, i carassi possono introdurre nuove malattie, minacciando ulteriormente la fauna autoctona.
