Hampir 400 rumah mengalami kerusakan, sementara mobil-mobil terperangkap dalam lapisan es tebal.
Dikutip dari Anadolu Agency, bencana ini bermula dari kebocoran pipa air utama pada Senin (17/2/2025).
Kebocoran pipa membuat air bah menggenangi permukiman warga.
Namun karena suhu turun hingga -17°C, air yang menggenang langsung membeku, menjebak seluruh lingkungan dalam es.
Wali Kota Detroit, Mike Duggan mengatakan ratusan warga langsung dievakuasi.
Hingga Sabtu (22/2/2025) lapisan es masih mengepung permukiman, namun tak separah sebelumnya.
Sementara perbaikan pipa air yang bocor membutuhkan waktu selama enam minggu.
