EE.UU. sanciona al Banco Internacional de Comercio por Irán

Estados Unidos sancionó al Banco Internacional de Comercio de Cuba (BICSA) por sus servicios a un banco iraní. Alex Otaola pide pasar a la acción.

El Departamento de Estado anunció el 15 de octubre la designación de BICSA, banco estatal cubano, por prestar servicios financieros desde al menos 2022 al Karafarin Bank, entidad iraní sancionada por el Tesoro en 2020. El secretario de Estado, Marco Rubio, afirmó que durante demasiado tiempo se ha permitido que la Cuba comunista funcione como puesto avanzado de actores hostiles, incluido Irán, y advirtió que nadie debe hacer transacciones con la entidad sancionada.

Otaola entiende que la diplomacia agote primero advertencias y plazos, pero sostiene que 67 años de régimen bastan. Recuerda las bases de espionaje chinas y rusas que se le atribuyen a Cuba y el éxodo de millones de cubanos, y pide a Washington que actúe ya.
