いよいよ公開の7/3(金)まで目前！映画『THE ORIGIN OF ULTRAMAN』このたび、日本映画界を牽引する名匠・是枝裕和監督に独占インタビューを敢行しました！
世界中で愛され続ける「ウルトラマンシリーズ」の根源的な魅力とは？本作の企画を担当された是枝監督に想いを語っていただきました。
『THE ORIGIN OF ULTRAMAN』作品紹介
日本特撮テレビシリーズの金字塔『ウルトラマン』は1966年の放送当時、最高視聴率42.8%を記録し、社会現象となりました。放送から60年を経過した現在も、円谷プロダクションは新たなウルトラマンシリーズ作品を世に送りつづけ、世代を超えた世界観はグローバルに拡大しています。
本作品には、映画、特撮、デザインなど各分野を代表するクリエイターが出演。ギレルモ・デル・トロ（映画監督）、是枝裕和（映画監督）、小島秀夫（ゲームクリエイター）、庵野秀明（監督・プロデューサー）、樋口真嗣（映画監督）、ニコラス・ウィンディング・レフン（映画監督）ほか、国内外から多彩な証言者が集結しました。それぞれの立場から語られる言葉が重なり、ウルトラマンという存在の輪郭が浮かび上がっていきます。
主人公がヒーローでありながら、怪獣のバックグラウンドが丁寧に描かれてきた唯一無二の世界観、そしてウルトラマンと怪獣双方の造形が持つ強い魅力をひもといていきます。さらに、円谷英二や当時のスタッフの発想と仕事にも光を当てながら、ウルトラマンがどのようにして世界へ広がっていったのか、その歩みをたどっていきます。
