«Sono contenta che si apprezzi l’impegno che il Governo aveva preso un anno fa per garantire agli operatori dell’informazione inviati all’estero di svolgere il loro lavoro nelle migliori condizioni di sicurezza. Voglio cogliere questa occasione per rinnovare la mia solidarietà ai colleghi che con il loro coraggio ci consentono di arrivare dove i nostri occhi non potrebbero arrivare. Parliamo dei luoghi fisici e non che altrimenti sarebbero invisibili all’opinione pubblica. Molti di loro hanno perso la vita, voglio rendere omaggio alla loro memoria. In Parlamento c’è stato il primo via libera per una legge per ricordare i giornalisti venuti a mancare. È in discussione al Senato. Nel dl Ucraina è stata inserita la norma che prevede che i giornalisti iscritti all’OdG freelance se inviati in luoghi di guerra devono avere un’adeguata copertura assicurativa e essere informati sulla sicurezza. C’è bisogno di risorse per questo. Sono stati ricordati casi di giornalisti che hanno subito attentati. Aggiungo l’assalto al quotidiano La Stampa. La mia solidarietà non è mai mancata, voglio ribadirla. La libertà di stampa è un presupposto fondamentale di uno stato di salute della democrazia».
