Seusai pertandingan, Erick Thohir turut mengapresiasi penerapan teknologi VAR yang kini diterapkan pada pertandingan Championship 2025/2026.
Bahkan Erick menyebut bahwa teknologi VAR di kompetisi kasta kedua, Championship 2025/2026 ini jadi satu-satunya di Asia.
Penerapan VAR di Championship 2025/2026 pun sempat digunakan di laga pembukan PSMS Medan vs Persekat.
Gol dari pemain Persekat, Eduard Rocky Mandosir di penghujung laga tepatnya pada menit 90+5 bahkan sempat direview wasit lebih dulu melalui VAR.
Hasil review pun mengesahkan gol tersebut. PSMS Medan harus mengakui kemenangan Persekat dengan skor 0-1.
Gubernur Sumatera Utara, Bobby Nasution yang menyaksikan langsung pertandingab PSMS vs Persikat mengaku kecewa dengan hasil kekalahan ini.
Meskipun demikian, dirinya tetap mengapresiasi penerapan VAR untuk pertama kalinya di Championship 2025/2026 sehingga gol yang diciptakan
Eduard Rocky Mandosir bisa diterima dengan baik.
