India clears defence procurement proposals worth $22.3 billion for the Army, Navy and Air Force, covering drones, artillery, helicopters, air defence systems and weather radars. The approvals set the procurement process in motion, with actual purchases to follow. Around 82% of approved procurement is directed towards Indian industry. India also targets $31.5 billion in annual defence production and $5.3 billion in defence exports by 2029–30, strengthening domestic manufacturing and military capabilities across all three services.
