Myanmar’s military leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing is facing a shifting diplomatic landscape as ASEAN considers renewed engagement with the junta despite ongoing civil war and international criticism.Min Aung Hlaing’s efforts to strengthen regional ties through visits to neighboring countries, including Laos, while Myanmar remains deeply divided by conflict. The military government continues to face condemnation over its rule, with the detention of former leader Aung San Suu Kyi remaining a major obstacle to wider diplomatic acceptance.
Regional experts warn that continued instability has fueled humanitarian concerns, including displacement, casualties and the risk of cross-border crimes such as human trafficking.
