L'ha presentato a Toronto, è diventato un punto di riferimento internazionale — "un impianto scuola per molti che vanno a vederlo" — e oggi rischia di restare un prototipo, perché in Italia i fondi per il salto industriale non arrivano.
Si chiama #BFCSistemiSrl, ha sede in Italia, e il suo amministratore unico Walter Murru ne ha parlato senza filtri ad Astrea: "Non basta aver immaginato, pensato, costruito, collaudato e messo in produzione un impianto con risultati eccellenti. Poi bisogna aspettare la capacità di investimento, che qui forse manca."
Il progetto norvegese: oro, argento e palladio estratti dalle schede elettroniche
Mentre l'Italia aspetta, la Norvegia ha già firmato. BFC Sistemi è stata selezionata da un gruppo norvegese come costruttore di un impianto industriale dedicato al trattamento di schede elettroniche per il recupero di oro, argento e palladio. Layout definito, contratti firmati, progettazione esecutiva avviata. L'obiettivo è avere l'impianto operativo in Norvegia entro la primavera-estate del 2027.
"Stiamo lavorando anche all'estero dove sembra che rispetto all'Italia ci sia una disponibilità all'investimento maggiore", ha commentato Murru con evidente amarezza. Un paradosso tutto italiano: la tecnologia nasce qui, il valore si crea altrove.
In parallelo, BFC è impegnata con il consorzio Cobat e l'Università dell'Aquila su un ulteriore progetto in corso per il recupero da batterie litio-alcaline, altro segmento strategico della filiera dei RAEE.
Fare innovazione in un settore così competitivo significa anche difenderla. BFC Sistemi partecipa attivamente a Smart Waste Engineering, lo spin-off nato dal Dipartimento di Ingegneria Chimica dell'Università dell'Aquila, che consente di tradurre ogni tecnologia sviluppata in brevetti nazionali e internazionali. "Siamo in un mondo in cui tutti sanno tutto e tutti conoscono tutto, soprattutto le cose degli altri", ha osservato Murru.
Il rapporto con il Professor Francesco Vegliò e il suo dipartimento va però oltre la tutela formale: "quando nascono rapporti di complicità operativa come quelli col Dipartimento, non si guarda né i tempi né i costi." È questa sinergia profonda, secondo Murru, ad aver permesso a BFC di trovarsi "un tantino avanti rispetto a molti concorrenti anche molto più importanti" che hanno creduto poco in questo settore.
Ogni anno in Italia vengono immessi sul mercato centinaia di migliaia di tonnellate di apparecchiature elettroniche. Alla fine del loro ciclo di vita contengono oro, argento, palladio, terre rare — materie prime critiche che l'Europa non ha in natura e che importa da Cina, Russia e Repubblica Democratica del Congo. La tecnologia per recuperarle esiste, è italiana, è brevettata. Per ora, quella tecnologia prende il volo verso nord.
