India has hit back at Pakistan at the United Nations General Assembly after Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif raised the Kashmir issue and levelled allegations against India. Responding to Sharif's speech, Indian envoy Petal Gahlot delivered a sharp rebuttal, calling out Pakistan's 'hypocrisy' and warning Islamabad over its support for cross-border terrorism. Gahlot highlighted Pakistan's record of harbouring terrorists, including Osama bin Laden, and accused the country of having a 'long record of bigotry and hatred'. The Indian envoy's remarks came after Sharif spoke about Kashmir and criticised India's decision to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance. India put the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance after the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 people were killed by Pakistan-based terrorists.
