Mamdani addresses Trump's press ban; POTUS claims 'obligation' to stand against 'fake news'
President Donald Trump held a meeting with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani at his official residence, the 1799-built Gracie Mansion located in Manhattan’s Upper East Side neighborhood. The two leaders addressed their third in-person during a press conference outside.A reporter asked if the topic of Trump's press ban came up, with Mamdani saying he informed the president that "all members of the press" would be at their event.
"That is something I believe in is as everyone, no matter the opinion or the critique, that we engage," Mamdani said.
Trump had a different take, blasting banned outlets like CNN, MS Now and Poltiico with familiar refrain.
"I never get anything positive. It's always negative, even having to do with the war," Trump said. "I think that these outlets have an obligation to be fair and if they're fake news, I really think I have an obligation not to allow them into another very special house."
