France Drops Case Against Apple Over DR Congo "Blood Minerals" | Firstpost Africa | N18GProsecutors in France have dropped a case against Apple where the tech giant was accused of sourcing minerals illegally mined and smuggled from conflict-hit regions of the DR Congo. The prosecutors said that the allegations were not sufficiently founded. DR Congo filed a complaint against Apple subsidiaries in France and Belgium last year. Kinshasa claims Apple is linked to minerals illegally mined in its territories, which are then smuggled into Rwanda and exported after falsely labelling their source of origin. The minerals in question are tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold which are important for manufacturing computers, laptops and mobile phones. Apple has repeatedly denied any such malpractice.
