Alors, de nombreux malades français font appel à des militants et à des médecins belges pour terminer leur vie dans la dignité de l’autre côté de la frontière.
L’aide à mourir connaît un parcours chaotique au Parlement français et à ce jour, elle reste interdite dans l’Hexagone. En Belgique, elle est dépénalisée et encadrée depuis plus de vingt ans. Alors de nombreux malades français comme Valérie, atteinte de la maladie de Charcot, souhaitent traverser la frontière pour terminer leur vie dans la dignité. Claudette Pierret, intermédiaire bénévole, accompagne les malades et les met en lien avec le médecin belge Yves de Locht. Mais ce dernier se dit submergé par les demandes d’euthanasies venues de France.
