LIVE: Ramaphosa to Return As South Africa's President As Parliament Convenes | Firstpost AfricaWelcome to Firstpost Africa with Alyson Le Grange.
We are live from Durban, South Africa.
Cyril Ramaphosa is set to be re-elected as the President of South Africa as the new National Assembly convenes. After days of discussions and deliberations, the African National Congress will reportedly form a government of national unity in South Africa with support from the Democratic Alliance (DA), the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and other smaller parties. This comes weeks after a weakened election verdict where the ANC fell short of a majority for the first time in 30 years. 58 MPs from Jacob Zuma's MK Party boycotted the parliament sitting. While he's set for a second term, challenges for President Cyril Ramaphosa are far from over. What are the obstacles he could face now? Can Ramaphosa shore up falling support for the ANC? Can Ramaphosa hold the unity government intact?
