Liberals' immigration mess continues?

In the latest episode of Not ‘Sorry’ on Juno News, host Alexander Brown is joined by Michelle Rempel Garner, Shadow Immigration Minister and Immigration Critic to put a bow on the Official Opposition’s efforts to reform immigration heading into the holidays.

The duo dissect the system’s breakdowns and recent common-sense corrections that show reasons for optimism, but share that there’s much more work to be done, and the Liberals can’t be taken at their word to fix the system they chose to break. Significant pushback is still required.

Brown, fresh off his testimony as a witness before Rempel Garner’s Immigration Committee, shares his concerns on behalf of young and working Canadians that Temporary Foreign Worker advocacy continues from lobby groups and disloyal politicians and businesses, and that the Liberals still have no clear deportation plan for millions of recent visitors and those who have abused the asylum system.

With Canada's population finally dipping from record highs, they advocate for low-productivity outflow and high-productivity inflow, calling for a return to the early days of a Harper-era model that prioritized identity, integration, shared values, and high-skill employment.

It’s time to end Temporary Foreign Worker misuse, crack down hard on shoddy diploma mill colleges, to stand up for Canadian workers and to train our own instead of bring in a replacement workforce that can be mistreated and who serve to suppress wages. Rempel also argues it’s time to end "one-click" virtual citizenship, to curb “Canadians of convenience.”

Tune in for this holiday insider deep-dive into what is arguably still Canada’s most pressing need: urgent immigration reform.
