Jerome Powell ha annunciato un piccolo taglio dei tassi da 25 punti base, ma dietro il volto e le parole misurate del presidente della Federal Reserve si nasconde un messaggio molto più profondo: la Fed è in trappola, stretta tra inflazione ancora alta e un mercato del lavoro che si indebolisce. All’interno della banca centrale americana regna la divisione, con membri che non riescono a concordare una linea comune, mentre i mercati mostrano segnali contrastanti: gli smart money di Wall Street si posizionano in difesa, i retail trader spingono al rialzo titoli speculativi e i rendimenti obbligazionari continuano a salire. In questo contesto, emerge il terzo mandato dimenticato della Fed – mantenere tassi di interesse a lungo termine moderati – e il rischio concreto di un ritorno al controllo della curva dei rendimenti.
