March 10, 2000 - One of the most highly touted high school recruits of the '90s, New York City's Felipe López embarked on a four-year college career at St. Johns that resulted in him finishing as the fourth leading scorer in team history.Lopez was selected 24th overall in the 1998 NBA Draft, wedged between Tyronn Lue and Al Harrington. Originally drafted by the San Antonio Spurs, Lopez was dealt alongside Carl Herrera to the Vancouver Grizzlies in exchange for Antonio Daniels.
Once known as the Dominican Michael Jordan, Lopez peaked in 1999, averaging 9.3 points. After stops in Washington and Minnesota, Lopez embarked on a lengthy professional career overseas.
