TRUMP WILL GRÖNLAND: USA prüfen Kauf und Militäreinsatz – Dänemark pocht auf VölkerrechtDie USA erhöhen den Druck. Präsident Donald Trump hält an Besitzansprüchen auf Grönland fest. Für ihn bleibt alles offen: Kauf oder Militäreinsatz. Außenminister Marco Rubio kündigt ein Treffen mit Dänemark und Grönland an. Ort und Zeitpunkt sind unklar.
Trump nennt Grönland strategisch zentral. Er warnt Russland und China vor mehr Einfluss in der Arktis. Die NATO spiele dabei nur eine Nebenrolle, sagt er. Zugleich bekennt sich Trump klar zum Bündnis. Die USA würden immer zu ihm stehen.
Dänemark widerspricht. Außenpolitiker Johann Wadephul mahnt die Einhaltung des Völkerrechts an. Über Grönland entscheiden die Menschen dort und das Königreich Dänemark. Die Prinzipien der UN-Charta seien bindend.
Im Weißen Haus laufen dennoch Planspiele. Die USA wollen russische und chinesische Aktivitäten in der Arktis abschrecken. Neben Sicherheit geht es um Geld. Grönland verfügt über zahlreiche strategische Rohstoffe sowie Öl und Gas. Ihr geschätzter Wert liegt bei mehreren Billionen Dollar.
In der kommenden Woche soll eine US-Delegation mit Dänen und Grönländern sprechen. Die Grönland-Krise ist damit nicht beendet.
