From the fighting in Gaza, to major external conflicts that raised international alarm, to the humanitarian crisis facing Palestinians, and finally, a real peace deal. A deal that largely stopped the fighting, and brought home the remaining hostages. A deal that many hope will serve as a runway to lasting peace in the region. We’ll follow all of this just as closely in 2026. Which is why, once a year, professor Alon Burstein and Austin Westfall are getting in the habit of doing an extended recap of the past year in chronological order. It’s something we hope will lend you perspective as we move into a busy new year.
