Sebelumnya upacara HUT ke-79 RI pada 2024 lalu diselenggarakan di Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) Kalimantan Timur.
Pemerintah memutuskan untuk menggelar peringatan HUT ke-80 RI pada 17 Agustus mendatang di Jakarta.
Berbeda dengan tahun lalu, upacara peringatan HUT RI tahun ini tidak digelar di Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) Kalimantan Timur.
Wakil Menteri Sekretaris Negara (Wamensesneg) Juri Ardiantoro, mengungkapkan bahwa upacara detik-detik Proklamasi Kemerdekaan ke-80 Republik Indonesia pada 17 Agustus 2025 akan kembali dilaksanakan di Istana Jakarta.
Alasannya lantaran IKN masih dalam proses penyelesaian pembangunan.
Kendati demikian, Juri menyebut upacara perayaan HUT ke-80 RI di IKN akan tetap ada yang akan dilakukan oleh Otorita IKN.
Wakil Presiden Gibran Rakabuming Raka mengatakan bahwa peringatan HUT RI di Jakarta sesuai dengan arahan Presiden Prabowo Subianto.
Lagi pula kata Gibran, pembangunan IKN saat ini belum rampung. Pemerintah masih fokus melakukan pembangunan di wilayah yang terletak di antara Kabupaten Penajam Paser Utara dan Kutai Kartanegara, Kalimantan Timur tersebut.
Sebelumnya Gibran menyatakan bahwa akan banyak kejutan dalam peringatan HUT ke-80 kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia pada 17 Agustus mendatang.
Gibran belum mau membocorkan kejutan apa yang akan dihadirkan pada peringatan hari kemerdekaan nanti.
Ia juga belum mau berkomentar terkait lokasi upacara mendatang, apakah di Jakarta, atau di daerah lain. Ia meminta untuk menunggu kabar lebih lanjut mengenai lokasi upacara nanti.
