Komentar ini muncul di tengah keraguan publik terkait pencalonan Biden di usianya yang ke-81 tahun.
Dikutip dari Anadolu Agency, Biden memang tidak menyebutkan secara langsung lawan politiknya.
Namun, pernyataan itu menegaskan bahwa dirinya siap dan mampu bertarung dengan Donald Trump.
Biden pun mengungkit kembali kemenangannya melawan Trump pada Pilpres 2020.
"Saya rasa saya orang yang paling memenuhi syarat untuk mencalonkan diri sebagai presiden. Saya pernah mengalahkannya sekali, dan saya akan mengalahkannya lagi," kata Biden dalam pertemuan puncak NATO di Washington, Kamis (11/7/2024).
Ia mengaku didukung oleh banyak negara NATO untuk maju lagi sebagai presiden AS.
Anggota NATO disebut khawatir bencana besar akan datang jika Trump yang terpilih sebagai presiden.
"Kamu harus menang. Jangan biarkan orang ini maju, dia akan jadi bencana," katanya menirukan anggota NATO.
Dalam pidatonya, Biden juga menyinggung kelayakan Kamala Harris sebagai wakil presiden meski berlatar belakang sebagai jaksa.
"Dia memenuhi syarat untuk menjadi presiden. Itulah mengapa saya memilihnya," pungkas Biden, dikutip dari Reuters.
