Ketua Umum PSSI Erick Thohir mengumumkan Presiden Prabowo menjadi Dewan Kehormatan Sinergi PSSI sesuai salah satu keputusan Kongres Biasa PSSI pada Rabu (4/6/2025)."Presiden Prabowo menerima sebagai dewan kehormatan. Selama ini kita selalu di PSSI dengan pemerintah ada pemikiran-pemikiran yang belum sinkron. Sudah saatnya harus sejalan sehingga tidak ada lagi intervensi ataupun egosektoral dari kita PSSI," kata Erick.
Erick menambahkan, keberhasilan Timnas Indonesia juga terdapat andil dari pemerintah. PSSI sebagai federasi, perlu dana pemerintah, ketika Timnas Indonesia bagus kita bilang itu karena PSSI. Kita lupa pemerintah juga menyumbang.
"Kita ini Asia, bukan Eropa, yang semua independen, disini tidak jalan. Kalau pemerintah dan PSSI jalan seiring, Insya Allah isu-isu intervensi pemerintah ini kita bisa minimalisasi. membangun sepak bola tidak mungkin PSSI sendiri," ujar Erick.
