Mannheim: Am Dienstagabend gegen 20:30 Uhr wurde der Leitstelle der Feuerwehr ein Brand in der Katharinenstraße gemeldet. Beim Eintreffen der Einsatzkräfte drang bereits dichter Rauch aus einer Wohnung im zweiten Obergeschoss.Die Bewohner konnten das Gebäude glücklicherweise selbstständig und unverletzt verlassen. Die Feuerwehr brachte den Brand in einem Zimmer der betroffenen Wohnung schnell unter Kontrolle.
Zur Ursache des Feuers liegen derzeit noch keine Erkenntnisse vor – die Ermittlungen laufen.
Durch die Flammen und das eingesetzte Löschwasser wurde das alte Gebäude jedoch so stark beschädigt, dass akute Einsturzgefahr besteht. Die Polizei versiegelte das Haus daher aus Sicherheitsgründen. Die Anwohner mussten für die Nacht anderweitig unterkommen.
