Pesquisadores da Universidade de Boston desenvolveram uma ferramenta de inteligência artificial capaz de detectar sinais precoces da doença de Alzheimer através da análise da fala. O algoritmo examina o conteúdo e a estrutura das conversas, focando nas palavras escolhidas e em como são utilizadas nas frases, alcançando uma precisão de 78,5% na identificação de riscos de desenvolvimento da doença nos próximos seis anos.
A análise não se concentra em características óbvias da fala, como velocidade, mas em aspectos mais sutis da comunicação. Essa abordagem inovadora pode permitir um diagnóstico precoce, possibilitando intervenções mais eficazes no tratamento do Alzheimer. Entre os sinais identificados estão a dificuldade em lembrar conversas recentes, confusão ao expressar ideias e mudanças na forma de estruturar frases.
