Why success requires you to stop choosing | Cassandra Britton | TEDxColumbiana

What if balance was never the goal? Hustle or rest. Strength or vulnerability. Ambition or peace. Most of us were taught that success means making a choice: pick a side, or find the middle ground between the two. Former competitive hockey player and executive voice and communication coach Cassandra Britton, lived by that rule. It made her successful. It also put her in a hospital bed. In this talk, she explores the paradox at the heart of high performance. The two opposing forces we keep trying to choose between are the very forces that make us stronger. Every time we choose, we split ourselves in two and swing like a pendulum between extremes. Drawing on the science of time under tension, Cassandra reveals what becomes possible when leaders and high performers stop choosing and learn to embrace the tension between both sides. Their capacity expands. They stop collapsing under pressure. And they discover that success lives in the AND. She introduces her methodology: Tension Intelligence, the practiced capacity to hold two opposing forces at once and let that tension make you stronger, along with three steps to build it: Identify, Confront, Execute. If you took a Canadian hockey player, handed her a mic, and gave her a mission to build a global brand from scratch, you would get Cassandra Britton.
Cassandra is the Founder of The Business Savage, a Global Keynote Speaker, and an Executive Communication and Performance Coach. She teaches leaders how to master their most powerful tool: their voice.
A former competitive athlete turned multi seven figure entrepreneur at 19, she now works with executives, founders, and high performers to own their voice, expand their capacity, and become who they were built to be. She hosts a top ranked global podcast, speaks on stages worldwide, and is a mother to her son, Coast.
She is driven to use her voice to build something greater than herself and create lasting impact. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx Receive SMS online on sms24.me
