IPAM 2005: Bridging Time and Length Scales
Materials Science met Bio-Physics at IPAM in Fall 2005. "Bridging Time and Length Scales" examined multi-scale connections between electronic-structure calculations used to measure handfuls of atoms with the partial differential equations used in continuum mechanics. Fifty scholars attended five weeks of lectures, plus a bonus week of hands-on work with WIEN2K code. Speakers included: Mira Todorova of U. Sydney, Karlheinz Schwarz of TU Wien, Claudia Ambrosch-Draxl of U. Graz.
