In quella commissione, anche se non votò, c'era l'architetto Alessandro Scandurra che della Torre Futura è il progettista, subentrato in corso d'opera dopo che un precedente progetto era stato bocciato dalla Commissione. A qualche km di distanza, più a sud, nel quartiere di Porta Romana, sotto la lente della Procura di Milano è finita la riqualificazione dell'ex scalo ferroviario Romana, per il presunto conflitto di interessi dell'architetto Scandurra. Il progetto di Coima, la società fondata da Manfredi Catella, ha avuto il parere favorevole della Commissione. A votare contro era stato invece il delegato del Municipio 5 di Milano, Mattia Cugini, sottolineando le lacune del progetto, seppur nelle sue linee guida: "Come Municipio 5 volevamo evitare che si costruisse una cittadella fortificata" nel quartiere.
