Эдуард Кузьмин после громкого ухода из университета возвращается в родную Агаповку и неожиданно для себя становится главой местного колхоза. Благодаря своей непосредственности и нестандартному подходу он не только сохраняет хозяйство, но и выводит его на новый уровень

Однако в тени развивается интрига — антагонист пытается использовать Кузю в своих целях и разрушить колхоз ради продажи земли под строительство платной трассы. Сам Кузя, не подозревая о коварных планах, борется за родную Агаповку и продолжает идти своим путём. На личном фронте тоже всё непросто: за внимание Кузи соперничают соседка Верка и городская девушка Даша
