2 U.S. warplanes shot down by Iran: Details on F-15 Eagle & A-10 Warthog
A U.S. fighter jet was hit over southern Iran on Friday. One of two crew members was rescued.They're still searching for the other service member. According to reports, a second plane, an A-10, went down in a separate incident.
The Washington Post and Fox News Digital report that an A-10 Warthog attack plane was also hit by incoming fire. The Post report says the A-10 pilot was able to fly the damaged plane to Kuwaiti airspace before he ejected and was safely rescued. The New York Times reports that the plane crashed in the Persian Gulf before the pilot was rescued.
One of the F-15E pilots that crashed in southern Iran was rescued. They're still searching for the second crew member.
According to The Post, two Blackhawk helicopters were also hit, injuring crew members, but both aircraft made it back to base.
